To the UK With Love
The Russian, that is. He’s gone! He’s with my editor now (she’ll take good care of him…but if you think *I’m* hard on my characters…you should see what she does to them!) and he will be with her until he comes back all marked up in red for me to revise. (that’s metaphorical red, she doesn’t really do that!)
In the meantime, that means I will be preparing a couple of proposals for her to look at. I have one partial complete, but it’s not the book I need to write next…(she says mysteriously…)
The one I need to write next has a half-finished partial, since while I was waiting for The Russian partial revisions I wrote a partial, realized I was making my same mistakes…and *delete* *delete* *delete* (you guys know the drill)
And I have hero and heroine inspiration to share…but I’m monna sandwich this in here real quick since I feel like a scolding school marm…
I’m following the New Voices comp, and comments, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how nice people have been, and how constructive their criticism is. (really) But, there are a couple of people, and they’re doing it to more than one person (so I’ve noticed a pattern) that are being mean. I’m here to tell you right now, it doesn’t make me want to read your work, and it won’t make your work look better. Only your work BEING better will get you a win.
Having said that, I’m pleasantly surprised by how unnasty it’s been in general, so cheers to most everybody! Jeers to a couple.
And now, finally, I bring you the inspiration for Blaise and Ella. ๐ I know them a bit as characters already and I’m very excited to write their HEA! (tortured? Ha! You ain’t seen nothin yet…)
But isn’t he pretty?
And really, so is she.

Go the Russian! Such a fab story. Jenny’s going to love it. So looking forward to seeing what you do with Blaise and Ella. Hawt!
Haha I had a vision of a Russian alpha male covered in red pen.
That’ll keep me going for the day.
Thanks, Jackie. ๐ You gave me the confidence to go quirky, and I’m very thankful for that! Also, yes, I know…hawt indeed!
Lacey, that very likely may be his fate. I will have to scrub him clean when he returns…
Aw poor guy, he’s so pretty now. It’s such a shame.
Hey Maisey, since I love, love, love your first chapter of His Virgin Acquisition (all of them actually) could you write my New Voices entry? You will? Oh you’re so wonderful! ๐
Lacey, I love you a little bit, do you know that?
And I’m SO glad you liked the book…only, you know I never place in contests, right? ๐
I’m sorry – it seems that my PC cut off the photo of the yummy scrummy Blaise (love the name BTW). or perhaps this isn’t THAT type of blog site… Oh well I have an imagination (err sometimes) so perhaps I’ll just imagine what the rest looks like…
Oooo does your husband know about us ;). They’re looking for a fabulous voice, so I figure if I could just borrow yours… Did you really not place in contests? I’m concerned about those judges now. Do you think they were drugged?
Congrats on the Russian and Oh-Delish on your new hero!! Thought you’d be excited to know I saw your book in Target Bunbury ( Western Australia) today. pity I didn’t have a camera with me!! And I’m almost finished it on my e-reader and loving it. The New Voices contests is rapidly reducing my time for reading actual novels though, cos as I’ve said loud and proud on my blog… I’m ADDICTED!!
He. Well, Janette, we try to keep it a family show around here. *halo*
Lacey, stop! Stop! *but go on*. I really and truly didn’t get feedback from any of the M&B comps. ๐ Ah, poor me. ๐ (also, Haven won’t mind)
Rach, weeeehh!! I have a pic of it on Aussie shelves compliments of my darling Chelsea (who is tearing it up in the passion category on NV) and on Kiwi shelves from my darling Jackie, who is, of course, doing the same. (And you too I see!! Way to go!)
I’m glad you’re enjoying the book! ๐
Congrats again on finishing up with the Russian story! Urg- I’m trying so hard to get my WIP done before edits from Ocean Shifters one and two hit. (I have no idea how much work it’ll be since I’m new to this, but everyone keeps telling me to freak out.)
I’ve been commenting on a few Mills and Boon entries, and I gotta say- it’s a little weird that folks who are entered can comment on other contestant’s entries. I haven’t seen anything aggregious thus far, but seems like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse.
Funny- I spastically subbed an entry last night only to remember that I couldn’t because I count as pubbed now. Hee! Emailed right away and they didn’t post, but it was such a funny moment. “Oh yeah! I signed a contract, didn’t I? Duh!”
By the way, saw an awesomely bad cover the other day. Must send to you.
Cheers,
Daisy
Ha! Daisy I didn’t even think of that. I was looking for your chapter today and couldn’t find it!
Also, don’t freak out. It’s all part of the process…and it’s all very doable. ๐ What kind of edits? Revision edits? Or just proof corrections/galleys?
Yes please, send me the badness.
Waaahh the internet ate my comment. Bad web. (It’s probably my fault really…)
Thank Haven for me will you? Sharing is caring after all :P.
I’m still amazed at those competitions – naughty, naughty! Where would we be without the slush pile!
I wouldn’t be ANYWHERE without the slush pile!
And yes, shall thank him suitably!
