My Appreciation of You
Yep you. People who read this blog. People who comment on it. People who encourage me, here, on twitter, on Facebook and of course in ‘real life’.
When I read the awesome comments you guys leave me it always makes me smile. When I see the comments you leave others, and all the encouragement and kind words, it makes me smile. Because you don’t only support me, but so many others around you.
Writing can be a lonely business, but you all make sure I don’t feel alone. There are times when the crows circle, and you all come support me. Just one reason why it’s so important to me to try and offer support right back! Because we’re in this together. We want the same things, we have similar goals. It can be easy to feel competitive, I think, and to begrudge the success of others, but the truth is…I don’t see very much of that in this community.
I see a lot of good. A lot of support. It blesses me. It makes me proud to be a part of it.
So here’s to YOU. Because on bad days, you all make me smile. On good days, you make me smile wider.
This is where I ask for a virtual group hug. *g*
Oh, and on a different note. Yay for the Chilean miners and their families! I’ve been watching on the news and bawling like a baby (sensitive me). Thank God they’re making it out!

Group hug!! Right back at ya, babe! You’re a huge support to others and don’t you ever forget that. π
I’m thankful for your support every single day and I love that you’re always so positive and encouraging to everyone you come in contact with. I’m joining in the group hug too. π
Ah look, two of my favourite people are already here!
Jackie, what I’ve come here to say to Maisey applies just as much to you. Simply put, you guys rock. You are always there to offer support, share your ‘own’ brand of wisdom, make me laugh when I feel like crying. Not that crying is something we should overlook if we’re having a bad day, ignoring emotions is just silly in my opinion. This is a tough market to crack and advice that is honest, heart felt and humourous to boot is what a lot of us younger wannabe writers are searching for. We all find it here, on this blog, on Jackie’s and a whole other bunch spread across the net.
I think what makes you guys stand out is the fact that what you see is what you get, no BS and no attitude. You seek only to help others and let me tell you, the ‘others’ are much appreciative. Keep up the fantastic work, it really does make a difference.
Woohoo! We’re seriously group hugging.
Thanks guys. π You know, it’s so important to me to support people…and I just feel like this blog is just as therapeutic for me. When I’m thinking through conflict, I do a post about it. Writing it down helps me see what I need to do and how I need to go about it.
If it can help someone else too, then I’m thrilled!
And thank you Aideen, I like the make people laugh. π
Robyn, you weren’t here when I posted, honest!!
((Big hug)) back atcha Maisey.
Your success story inspires us to hope we might one day follow in your footsteps – you are our very own trailblazer. :o)
Good on you. x
Joanne, I have no doubt you will. Thank you for your kind words. I needed them more than you know today. π
Thanks for so generously sharing your insights, Maisey.
You are very much appreciated. xoxox ms
Margie, thank you! π That means a lot.
It seems so very strange that you are saying thank you. It’s like some one you really like turning up to your birthday party and handing over an exquisite hand made gift and then saying thank you.
Every post you write (I’m not even going to start on your books) is a gift. One that can be treasured and brought out to examine over and over again, and each time you do you find something more to marvel at and be thankful for.
So here we are, all lined up on your front doorstep, flowers, chocolates and Starbucks in hand, to say a deeply heartfelt thank you to you: because you write so beautifully, because you make us smile (and chuckle and chortle and laugh out loud), because you create light bulb moments for us, because you care enough to share your journey with us, because you represent all that we would like to achieve and do so with grace and humility, and because (the most special reason of all) you’re you.
Wow. I do believe you’ve made me teary-eyed, Elissa. π
But the thing is, you all truly do mean a lot to me. No fooling. And if I showed up at your party with gifts, I would say thank you…because you invited me. π
I’m so pleased my posts are helpful to you. Happy I make you laugh. Happy you like my books!
See, you all make me laugh and smile too, and that’s invaluable!
Hugs right back. You’re awesome, you know that don’t you? No? Well, you are. Bless you, sweetheart!
Thanks, Maya, you’re a doll. And you all really should know how much you’re appreciated. π
Oh, my. That’s a lovely post. The support and encouragement among romance writers is a beautiful thing. Thanks for reminding me to take the time to enjoy it and all of the other wonderful things in my life!
Oh, thanks, Julia. Yes, the support in the industry is absolutely wonderful.
If I can give back at all, I’m more than pleased!
And yes, life is pretty darn beautiful. π
Am I too late for that group hug, Maisey?
Of course not! Get over here! π
Maisey,
I think this goes both ways because you sure do make me smile. And I learn much from you.
*Virtual hug back*
Abbi π
Abbi, you’re a great friend. π I was so glad I got to meet you and give you a real hug at RWA!! I’ll settle for a virtual one now though. π
